Our club cheerfully receives financial and/or equipment/material donations by GRR Members and Public.
- Financial donations are placed directly into one of our two Funds (or as directed by donor).
- Equipment/material donations are either kept for Community Projects and Activities, or sold off by Auction or at our Weekly Meetings and proceeds are placed into one of our Funds (or as directed by donor).
The following are recent donations:
Allan Alexander
2022-10 Several fishing gear items were donated from the estate of Allan Alexander of Sydney BC. These were auctioned off with proceeds allocated to the GRR Legacy Fund.
2021-02 Donated Gear
24 Lots of donated fishing equipment and material was blind auctioned off, raising $428 which was allocated to the GRR Legacy Fund.
Howard Armstrong
2021-01: Four boxes of used Fishing Gear owned by departed Howard Armstrong were donated by his wife, Gear was auctioned off, and proceeds were allocated to the GRR Legacy Fund.
2020-11-24 Club and Donated Gear
44 Lots of donated and old GRR fishing equipment and material was blind auctioned off as storage was an issue during Covid shut-downs, raising $784 which was allocated to the GRR Legacy Fund.
Lorraine Falls
2020-11: Seldom used Orvis Fly Rod & Reel was donated to GRR by Lorraine Fallis Guided Tours, it was auctioned off in 2020-12 within Victoria area Fishing Clubs and proceeds of $200 were allocated to the GRR Legacy Fund..
Mr. Gray
2019-09: Two tables of fishing equipment/material donated to GRR and sold off to members, proceeds contributed to the GRR Legacy Fund..
Mr. Gray owned Island Marine Supplies for a period and was an avid fisherman. Donation by Mr. Gray’s daughter Julie and husband Robert Michaux.
Bill Gibson
2019-04: Donation of fly tying equipment and materials.
Frank Szarkowicz
2018-10: Second financial contribution by members of Frank’s family (Frank holding cake knife). Frank was a long time member of GRR.
Ryan Arsenych
2017-10-24: Saltwater fishing flashers by GRR Member Ryan Arsenych.
Peter Dawson
2017-09: Fishing equipment was generously donated in memory of Peter Dawson.
Gord Riddell
2017-09: Fishing equipment was generously donated by long time GRR Member Gord Riddell.
Bill Carnes
2017-01: A significant financial contribution was made by the Carnes brothers in honour of their father, Bill Carnes who was a long term GRR Member until passing in 2016.
Bill Truax
2014-10: The GRR Legacy Fund was started with a bequest of flies and fly tying materials from Bill Truax’s widow. Bill was a long term member of GRR in 1990’s. Over 4000 flies were donated. This material has been steadily sold off raising money for the fund.
