2019-03-05 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water:

  • some fishing in Elk and Langford
  • John F viewed Cowachin River, looks good
  • Fish out, Durrance Lake, 27 Mar

Salt Water:

  • Ryan – Fishing off trailer park and waterfront, some days, fishing is hot and cold
  • John F – Halibut season opened, they are biting.
  • Rob M – Halibut scraps, from Thrift’s are a good price & Finest at Sea is the same.

2019-02-26 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water:

  • Robert noted the Fresh Water has turned hard.
  • Cowachin River, some Steelhead have been caught.
  • Kemp Lake – past Sooke with boat launch on Northside, available now, early hatchings
  • Jim – Fish Brain App is good, Elk, Glen and Prospect Lake
  • Trapper Cabin, 7-10 May on Cowachin is available
  • Boat Show – lots of Boats, near Princess Auto and is worth a visit, Island Outfitters sponsors and had broken rod deal – $30.00 for 6wt rod.

Salt Water: Too Windy for Salt Water, only 1x 6.5 lbs

2019-02-19 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water:

  • Robs Fly – been tied by some members
  • Some people are Fishing Elk Lake, don’t know results
  • Bass fishing in Elk Lake is reported Good

Salt Water:

  • Ryan – off waterfront, Mouth of harbour to Flagpole, 8.9 lbs, 6 Dungeness Crab
  • John – Boat Show in Langford – Fri-Sun, Flyers will be dropped off.

2019-02-05 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water:

  • Robert – John and Dave went Cowachin River, no fish, no bites.
  • Roberts Fly, given to him by Ray Wallace.
  • GRR Fly Tying – Mondays, 1:30 PM, 1553 Clive Dr,  Victoria – a good time is had!! Gold Ribbon Hares’ Ear next Monday.
  • Dave – Haig Brown, 3rd Wednesday of each month
  • Dennis – bring in Ray Wallace specials next week

Salt Water:

  • Ryan – slow fishing this week.

2019-01-29 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water:

  • Rob – Island Outfitters – Good fishing, leeches and woolly buggers. Spring stocking began last year (2018) in 1st week in March. Durrance Lake – lots of Mergansers in Nov/Dec.
  • Winston – Haig Brown Fish out – no fish, Bazan Bay. Jim recommended getting in shape for fly fishing.
    Oyster Farm at Sooke, fish out, 2 Feb 2019, 8:00 am – Haig Brown

Salt Water:

  • Ryan – citrus spoon, 9, 12 lb fish at Harbour mouth.
  • John P, he has charter with  Good Time Dave and has spaces.
  • Island Outfitters – Beecher and Peder Bay, fish are being caught.
