 Freshwater:

  • RonD Suggested that Spectacle Lake might be suitable for ice fishing. Recommended a forum at flybc.ca for those thinking of trips to interior lakes 

Salt Water:

2020-01-07 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water:

  • Ron Duncan Durance Barry 11 inch trout Dale 4 or 5 even larger
  • Prospect Dale caught rainbows trolling 1 full sinking line 1 ½ sinking line. Shore fishers were catching trout on powerbaits. Another boat was seen anchored assumed to be chironomid fishing.

Salt Water:

  • Ryan 2 springs 8 lbs. 13 lbs. 230 ft Constance bank /Trail Island
  • John Pierce and Colin Chadwick crabbing at Cormorant Point Gordon Head 4 red rock crabs.
  • Contact John Francis for salmon/halibut charter (Good Time Dave) late Aug.

2019-12-10 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water:

  • Dave L – winter hatches, Cowachin – Lots of Egg patterns, varied assortment. Nymphs – Midge Hatch in Dec, Moral of Story, take dry flies with you !!

Salt Water:

  • Ron –  Fraser Island/Whirl Bay – 7 lb fish. 2 fish for the day.

2019-11-26 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water:

  1. BarryF: Fished Durrance Lake Friday, cold and dry and slow, and half dozen Rainbow.
  2. DaleS and BarryF: Fished Durrance Lake Monday, surface 46F, DaleS caught 8 from 10ft boat with electric motor,  initially full size Leeches getting a lot of hits but no hook set, think biting tail. Later switched tequila Booby-Eye, got hit every minute around 1:30, but no take hook. Floating line, then down-rigger but not deep, sinking line. Also landed on Doc-Spratley. Trolled fast to start and odd hits, slowed down with Booby-Eye and lots of bites.
  3. RyanA & BrianP: Prospect Lake, Ryan got 5, Brian scratch.
  4. SandyM & Lev: Boat fly fishing, battery failed. Lots strikes around midday, landed one. Sinking lines with Leech flies.
  5. BobC: Elk Lake, good strikes, lots of migratory birds.

Salt Water:

  1. TommyW, BrianP, JohnP: Nov 22 Sooke dropped Crab Traps at Sooke Rotary Pier, 1 legal Red Rock (with only 1 claw) after 3 hours, tried clamming & mussels at Ella Beach and Muir Creek Beach, none.
