2019-04-09 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water:

  1. Robert hosted the final fly tying session of this season with only he and Dave in attendance.
  2. Fly tying meetings will recommence in November.
  3. Island Outfitters report that two large trout were caught on Langford Lake weighing 5 lb. and 4 lb. 8 oz. on flies.
  4. The Cowichan River has risen slightly and is perhaps more fishable. Barry had great fishing success last week at Durrance.
  5. Jim fished Prospect and fed a hungry eagle at his feet.
  6. Last Thursday Sandy and others fished Durrance and they all catching fish.

Saltwater:

Fishing is slow. Wardens at a stream in West Vancouver reported no herring returning to spawn.

2019-04-02 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water

Rob – Tony – 2  Durrance, Barry – 5 Durrance, Ron – 4 Durrance caught on Pumpkinhead, Robs Fly, Beaded Leech.
Sandy is going tomorrow (3 Apr) Durrance  – 10 AM weather permitting

Salt Water

Ryan – fishing is slow, using a 3” herring spoon off the Water Front, Clover Point

2019-03-26 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water:

  • Rob – passed mic to Barry, 4 times in Durrants last 10 days, 12 RB daily. Micro Leech, Robs Fly, Beaded Leach, Royal Coachman. Jim – March Brown, size 10, 3 feet below surface with yellow head
  • Dennis – Elk Lake, no fish last Wednesday. Mike – a number of  large trout caught on big black Wolly Buggers.

Salt Water:

  • Ryan – 22 lbs, 13 lbs, Pender Bay, small ones off water front
  • Dave – Winky is in Tasmania. Dave Maclean 35 Bone Fish off Cuba. Bob, 1 small Coho off water front.
  • Rob – Time to get Fresh and Salt Water Licences

2019-03-19 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water:

  • Robert – Robs Fly – took 15 mins before first hit.
  • Durrance Fishout – 8:00 AM start, hot dogs at Noon. $3.00 per dog.
  • Barry – Durrance Lake – Rainbow Trout – Friday lots of hits, but just one fish   -Monday – later in afternoon, 12 fish caught, up to 13-14”
  • Sandy – Friday GRR Fish Out – 2 fish with 8 anglers off dock and good snacks at Red Barn
  • Wynn – Monday – 2 off dock using Chartuese Fly, Game Warden came, don’t fish without License
  • Dave Larson – Cowachin River, 1 brown. Water level in Cowachin River is scary low.
  • Mike – Fish finder used in Durrance, lots of fish

Salt Water:

  • Rob – Breakwater at Ogden Point – fellow had rigged Walker for fishing platform. Lots of large Herring in December off Admiral Bridge.
  • Ryan – some small Springs about 6 lbs
  • Esquimalt – Ron and Bob 1 Fish Bob – limit out 2 days, 5 lbs Spring
  • Good Time Dave – regular rates are now in affect: $450.00 half day and $750.00 for 4 persons

2019-03-12 Fishing Reports

Fresh Water:

  • some fishing in Elk and Langford
  • John F viewed Cowachin River, looks good
  • Fish out, Durrance Lake, 27 Mar

Salt Water:

  • Ryan – Fishing off trailer park and waterfront, some days, fishing is hot and cold
  • John F – Halibut season opened, they are biting.
  • Rob M – Halibut scraps, from Thrift’s are a good price & Finest at Sea is the same.
